MI2200 Multimedia Interface VDO Dayton

This is my first post so bare with me

I discovered your forum to be very consistent in terms of GPS / multimedia automotive. Unfortunately for me, I don't speak Dutch and I couldn't find an English section of the Forum either, so I decided to open a new topic with my problem (I know Dutch people are great English speakers so this shouldn't be a problem ).

I own a Renault Laguna II.1 2002 fitted with a factory Carminat Navigation system, revision 3.

I would like to put the navigation screen to a better use by purchasing the VDO Dayton Multimedia Interface MI2200. Does anybody know if my system is compatible with MI2200 Interface? I intend to install the interface between my Navigation system located in the glove compartment and the in-car screen.

Also, are there any schematics available for the MI2200? Am I obliged to purchase a secondary monitor from VDO only or could I use different brands (video output is only RGB+sync)?

Sorry for that, in the meantime I edited the post. Instead of continue editing I pressed OK and that ended the post prematurely. If anybody needs some of the system pictures please tell me so.

Although the navigation computer in your Renault is made by Siemens VDO and the monitorconnections are identical, I cannot see a way to integrate the unit into your system. The necessary IR control fails and computerunit software prevents the use of this equipment.
Since the Renault units operate with other standards and signals than the VDODayton units it is mandatory to use dedicated Renault interfaces. I am not aware of any similar system for Renault that matches the possibilities of the MI2200

Could you please be more specific regarding the standards used by Renault versus VDO Siemens units?

IR remote controller is embedded into MI2200, what is the relation with the navigation computer? I only want to be able to interface MI2200 between the navigation computer and the screen. I even know the pinouts for the screen
1 - not in use
2 - earth
3 - video signal
4 - red video signal
5 - green video signal
6 - blue video signal
7 - earth
8 - video sinhronisation signal
9 - earth
10 - brightness adjustment
11 - not in use
12 - display on/off
13 - display supply
14 - not in use
15 - +12 Volts
16 - +12 Volts
shielding - earth

It would seem that the levels of the video signals differ so that a VDODayton monitor although 100% identical in pinning will not properly function on a Renault unit and vice versa. You need a separate IR receiver to operate the MI2200 but if you are sure it is integrated into the 2200 you should be ok
I do know that the VDODayton rearvie camera interfaces cannot be used in combination with the Renault equipment

I also include the documentation and repair manual for the Carminat units. Maybe they are of assistance
