MS2000NL dead?

Hello,
I have a MS2000NL vdo pnd.
S/N: AC61F55042 (I'm not sure if is not AC61E55042)
It had a WinCe ver.3.3 and Navteq 2006/2007 EU map on it
and in a moment of stupidity I download from the vdo site
a TeleAtlas update for it (Application Software Update MS 2000
Version: Tele Atlas (3.3/3) Jan 26, 2006).

During the upgrade only OS Updating was displayed. After the upgrade only "Startup system..." is displayed.
It managed ONE time to load both the OS and navigation system and worked ok, but no more than once .
I know that I done a mistake the instruction file said not to update NT products with TA update, but I've done it:(.

Now it only displays "Startup system...". Is there any thing I can do ? or it is dead ? I seen on this forum that there is an kit-update for MS2000 to MS2010, but on the indicated link I did not find it. Can you give me an archive of it, to give it a try ?

Last night I try again to do the "update" and now is booting with this TA(2.1) software, I put a NT map on the SD card and it also works fine. But I can not guarantee that is stable , because this morming was displaying again only "Startup system..."

Here I put the 2 screen shots for its present state:



If you can send me the upgrade to MS2010 or to the old one (3.3) or other newer one will be superb.

The good news is that you don't need the Upgrade SW 2000>>2010.
It is already installed and you are running the last before version of the GUI-Software. The most recent came out in january 2007 and still can be found at VDO: http://www.vdodayton.nl/default2_and_fz ... 27483.aspx

So the only thing you have to do is load the latest GUI, in order to improve the performance of your MS 2010.
Don't be mislead by the fact that your screen indicates MS2000. The MS2010 has the Hardware of the MS 2000, the difference is the completely different SW and GUI.

I try it and it has no effect, the upgrade is not starting (I also try to rename vdoservice.exe with AutoUpgrade.exe)... and again now it displays only "Startup System..."
As I remember prior the stupid "upgrade" System was 3.3/ Date something like GUI date2006.07-08.
The GUI version I think it is the same, it was for sure 3.87, maybe the date was other but again 2006 summer.

When the PND started yesterday night I have seen that is was "moving"/working a little bit slower then prior stupid "upgrade" . Also I've seen that this TA version is loading and working with a NT map too.

Have you read viewtopic.php?t=7139 and followed the steps indicated there? You shall definitely not change names in an .exe file, or anything else. Simply follow the instructions, in particular on how to unzip, and formatting with FAT16.

Again, your system is already modified to a 2010, as I can see from the pictures. The original 2000 looks completely different.

Last question, as you wrote: ....I put a NT map on the SD card , where did you acquire that map?

yep I read it, I will give it a try tomorrow again with WinZip, I have Winrar installed now.
The map EU NT 2007 I get from a friend which has a VDO PN3000.

I've try with WinZip 12(last online ver) and the same happened. The upgrade did not start.

Did you take the proper zip-file (there are 2 available, only one is correct for you), unpack it and then got the files/folders as on the picture?
Those three have to be copied to the formatted SD Card.

Furthermore, have you carefully followed the step-by-step instruction as given on the PDF?

yep
*unzip with winzip->got navi directory, delete.ini and vdoservice.exe
*format FAT a 2GB SD (not SanDisk, but it is the same SD with which I use also for the prior update.)
*copy to SD
*turn off-on the PND...

Is your 2010 now not working anymore at all?
I presume you have completely turned off your 2010, not only put it into stand-by....

Every time I start it only "Starup System..." appears and I did manage to get over this no GUI/SW at all.
In this moment the only way to stop it is by on/off button placed under the battery

unfortunatly i have the same problem like the post-opener, with my MS2000N TIT, after a missleaded Update, he is displaying "startup system" and nothing goes furthermore. I'm from switzerland, and as capdeguma, i dont anderstand dutch.
Please, help me wit tips, if you can.

Can you please give some more details:
1) Which system do you have, is it a genuine MS 2000 or was it already transferred into a MS 2010?
2) What have you done, and which SW have you tried to play into the system?

Thanks for your prompt answer. I think, the device is a newer one, so it will be an 2010. The games that was on the device are the same that come with the 2010. So, i think that i tried to update this 2010 to a 2010, witch was a stupid idea. I tried two different updates, one of them, the first, told me to do an update with a sd-card. The second one was similar, but after trying the device shows only "startup system" and nothing goes on. it dosent react anymore on the first update-SD....

first time, under "File Name" was written something, now i dont have anything written there.

Then, i tried :521462_MS2000_OS_21_100106.zip, withch did something, and now i'm screwed up



As i remember, once it was an Windows CE 5.0 device. It has no serial number, the type is MS2000 N TIT.

Indeed, your System was already converted from an MS 2000 into MS 2010. And the Widows CE is version 5.0, see also the picture above.
My understanding is that the latest MS 2010 SW ( january 2007) was properly functioning on it, is that correct?
Subsequently you have tried to use the SW dedicated to the original MS 2000, and now it is "dead".

The only thing you could try yourself is to play in the january 2007 SW again, available at http://www.vdodayton.nl/default2_and_fz ... 27483.aspx
That is Version A21-070112r1
If that does not work........

I tried it again with the Update you mentoned. Still, my device is dead...... So i will go on with my Garmin Nüvi 760.....

same problem here... every time I re-update the OS (MS2000 OS) it starts to work until I reset, then it's stuck at "startup system" again... can anyone get/send me a rom rip from a working MS2000NT? Would really appreciate it.
