Rear view camera and MS5200

Bericht door dieterpapa »

Hello all,

these days I can use a rental car (Lexus 400Hybrid) fully equipped :D :D with all goodies...and teher is also a rear view camera. It's an amazing feature...

Now I'm thinking about adding a camera to my VDO system and want to know whether this is possible at all.

What I have:
- PC5200 with MM5600
- connected to the PC5200 is my DVD radio via Adapter (see attachment)

I remember that there is a possibility to activate rear view camera in the setup screen.

Which harware do I need to integrate a camera ?

btw: what are the connectors in this interface for ? yellow: Video input, red and white is audio in L/R (not necessary), and the two other connectors are labeled as: "TV5200" and "DV6100, DV6200 or DTV6500"

Dieter

I remember that there is a possibility to activate rear view camera in the setup screen.
You can activate Rearvie camera in the Screen settings menu.
By setting this option you do not activate the camera but the system will pass the signal from the camera to the videoprocessor. This can only be effected when the reversing signal has been connected.
Which hardware do I need to integrate a camera ?
You can either use a video interface or the VDO MA 1200 (R/V Camera splitter cable)
Afbeelding
If you plan to use the VDO camera you must use the cable since the connector is mini DIN with Video and 12 volt supply integrated. If you use any othe camera on the market you will either have to use a special interface or use the cable and solder the 2 required leads (video and ground)

If you do not presently use the cable assembly in the photograph, you could also use this cable and disregard the unused connectors.
The power supply for the Non VDO camera should come from de reversing lights.

The easiest way to mount a camera on the rear is to use one of the registrationplate holders with integrated R/V Camera.

Hello Gerrit,

thanks for the answer.

I do not plan using the VDO-camera (because money is not falling from sky :D ).....
I'm planning to install http://www.acr.ch/shop/index.php?sid=12 ... 757&cf=itc is quite cheap and has good testing results. What do you mean with camera installed to the number plate holder ? Do you have a link ?

Meanwhile I had a look at the navco hp - and found the interface http://www.navco.nl/product_info.php?cP ... ucts_id=38

Navco interface and VDO interface are nearly the same price - which one is better ?
Both interfaces do have a Mini-DIN jack/plug. Can you tell me what is to be soldered where to come from cinch to mini-din ?

Using my video interface is not an option - I'll have my DVD-radio connected there.

Best regards

Dieter

I suggest you obtain the Navco V5 interface I have used it myself and it works just fine.
However i am not sure that you can connect your DVD radio and the RV camera interface at the same time!

As I understood Navco - I had a phone call this afternoon - you plug the video interface into the camera interface and can use booth.

As you mentioned in the setup screen there is the possibilty to use both camera and video.

I hope it will work

When you connect the camera power supply directly to the rear driving light of your car, there is a possibility of interference in the monitor ( seen as slow moving horizontal stripes; only when engine is running) I had this problem with my VW Passat, but may be you don't see/have that problem with your car. Try that first; it's the easier way).
The solution (for me that is) was to connect the camera power supply directly from the navigation unit/pc 5200. I used a shielded microphone cable; the interference was gone and whithout the need to connect the exterior shield to the cars mass. Beware of the fact that you only may connect one side of the shielded cable to mass (if needed)
